Acting Premier Moshe Sharett this week-end notified Col. Bennet de Ridder, acting United Nations truce chief, that the Israel Government would cooperate to the fullest extent in implementing the Security Council resolution adopted last week calling for an immediate cease fire in the dispute between Israel and Syria.
Meanwhile, it was officially reported here last night that the Israeli-Syrian Mired Armistice Commission has resumed meeting and has drawn up a tentative agreement for the cease-fire and for the restoration of peaceful conditions in the disputed Huleh area. A series of meetings were held all day Friday, it was revealed, and it was interrupted several times while the Syrian delegates communicated with Damascus for further instructions at each stags in the discussion.
The tentative agreement covers three points: 1. Acceptance of the Security Council cease-fire of May 8, 2. Agreement to keep the demilitarized zone between the two nations free of military and para military forces; 3, Ban on aggressive action against either party in the demilitarized zone or across it.
At the last minute the Syrians held up signature of the pact until after a meeting between Col. de Ridder and the Syrian Defense Minister. American Col. Samuel Taxis, who replaced French Col. Georges Boissavy as U.N. chairman of the Mixed Armistice Commission, was present at most of the sessions of the commission this week-end.
