Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett received Marchessa Capomazza, the Italian Ambassador, this afternoon. Political circles considered the meeting significant in view of the repeated reports that Italy, might be a mediator between the Arab states and Israel. It is reported that when Dag Hammarskjold, UN Secretary General, was in Italy this week-end, he raised that question with Italian leaders. It has been noted that Italy has remained neutral in the conflict and friendly with both Israel and the Arab states.
