A sharp shortage in Jewish labor is being experienced throughout Palestine and the Histadruth has issued an appeal to Zionist immigration offices abroad to despatch to Palestine all to whom immigration certificates have been issued.
In the last few days a shortage of 1,400 persons has been felt, the Palestine Labor Federation informed the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and an even greater shortage is anticipated. The Histadruth attributes the Jewish labor shortage to the increased demand for workers which it is receiving from the Jewish colonies.
If Jewish immigrants do not arrive in Palestine before the planting season begins, the Jewish colonies will be compelled to employ Arab labor, it is asserted.
In the meantime the Labor Federation is mobilizing all the newly arrived chaluzim and their families for the work.
