PALESTINIAN PORTS HANDLED 790,000 TONS OF CARGO IN THE FIRST HALF OF 1937, ACCORDING TO THE COMMERCIAL BULLETIN, REPRESENTING A 32.4 PER CENT INCREASE OVER THE 597,000 TONS IN THE CORRESPONDING PERIOD OF 1936.
CARGO DISCHARGED TOTALLED 487,000 TONS AND CARGO LOADED, 303,000. HAIFA ACCOUNTED FOR 374,000 TONS DISCHARGED AND 193,000 LOADED. JAFFA SHOWED A DROP OF 30 PER CENT IN CARGO UNLOADED TO 69,000 TONS.
THE TEL AVIV JETTY AND LIGHTER BASIN APPEARED IN THE STATISTICS FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH 39,000 TONS DISCHARGED AND 14,000 LOADED.
