President Zalman Shazar praised Israeli contributions to the Keren Hayesod-United Israel Appeal here last night. Addressing a meeting of UIA workers in his home he said the Keren Hayesod-United Israel Appeal and the Jewish National Fund had raised sufficient funds in Israel since the Six-Day War to establish ten border settlements despite the heavy taxation imposed on the country’s citizens and the Army reserve duty to which they are called every year. Shazar said almost half of Israel’s labor force are regular monthly contributors to the UIA.
