Shimon Peres may become “disengagement minister” in a broad Israeli coalition government. Political sources said Thursday that if Peres agrees to bring his Labor Party into the government, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon could put him charge of the planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank next year.
