Shimon Peres told American Jewish leaders marking the one-year anniversary of Sept. 11 that Israel and the United States are “fighting for the same purpose.” The Israeli foreign minister said, “Let’s pray together, let’s fight together, let’s win together,” adding, “Israel is on the side of a great nation trying to save humankind” from terrorism. Peres made his comments Wednesday at a Jewish communal commemoration in New York.
