Shlomo Adler, head of the Atid Navigation Co., Ltd, of Haifa, and a prominent figure in Israeli shipping, died here at the age of 57. Mr. Adler settled in Palestine in the 1920s. He was one of the early founders of Haganah, Jewish Palestine’s defense force, and at one time served as aide de camp to Gen. Orde Wingate, the British military commander who helped train Haganah members. Mr. Adler served as president of the Israel shipowners pool in 1948, an organization which mobilized Israel’s meager shipping resources to bring in vitally needed supplies during the country’s War for Independence.
