Shlomo Baum, a founder of a legendary Israeli commando unit and noted right- wing activist, died after a long illness at the age of 70. Baum was one of the founders of the 101 commando unit, which under the leadership of now-Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon, led bloody reprisal raids into Arab-held territory during the 1950s.
