“Sholem Aleichem Year” was launched here last night at a festive meeting conducted at the headquarters of the organized Jewish community. An announcement at the meeting made public plans for the year’s observance.
At the opening of the meeting, Abraham Mittelberg, chairman of the Sholem Aleichem Committee, pronounced a eulogy on the late Zalman Shneur, Hebrew-Yiddish poet novelist, who died two weeks ago in New York.
