The interment of the body of Sholom Maximon, noted American Hebrew writer and teacher, took place at Tel Aviv a few days ago. According to the wishes of the deceased, his body was brought to Palestine for permanent burial.
Rabbi Avineri, Professor Dizen-drook, Dr. S. Ginsburg, Dr. Yehuda Kaufman and Mr. Jacobi eulogized the dead writer. The speakers dwelt at length on his activities in the fields of Hebrew literature and pedagogy. He was buried near the graves of Achad Ha’am and S. Ben-Zion.
Mr. Maximon was 50 years of age when he died. He was one of the pioneers in the United States in the Hebrew movement and contributed many articles to Hebrew newspapers and magazines. In recent years he taught Hebrew at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati.
