The day before yesterday most of the clothes we saw around town suddenly dissolved into a composite picture-well-done, attractive, wearable and uninspiring. Our eye had become so dulled that we had completely forgotten what the over-worked word "smart" was originally intended to convey, but -flash, flash-the collection at Saks Fifth Avenue has changed that. On the fifth floor, in a garden atmosphere, surrounded by love-birds and canaries who sing lusty approval of the intriguing presentation of clothes, we viewed what we think is the grandest collection of the year. Models parading in fascinating garden frocks, stunning afternoon dresses and sports clothes added to the delightful atmosphere. Grass bordering the main aisle gives a soothing, cool effect so that you’ll find your-self dreaming of buttercups, blue-bells and colorful things like that. You won???t have to stir out of the department until you have assembled your entire summer wardrobe and like us you’ll offer a vote of thanks to these merchants for restoring your perspective.

Ansonia, too, has designed each shoe with an eye to glorifying the feminine foot. Their shoes are patterned with all of the perfection and novelty movie stars are said to like in their models. ‘Along with a group named after famous queens in history, they are presenting a complete line of Princess Flats. These are low heeled summer sport shoes, swagger and well tailored. You’ll find that these shoes are what your feet have been crying aloud for all these long years.

But you’ll go wild over it -this new "dude ranch" jewelry, made of cork, cord, catalin and horn in real Western colors; Cactus green, Canyon red, Glacier blue and Desert pink. We’re very excited about it all, for the prices are as extraordinary as the accessories themselves.
