American design has come to a place of leadership these past few years that includes not only dresses and coats but gloves as well. Saks 34th Street now sponsors that collection, the creation of Isabel Ireland. Miss Ireland has gone far afield in search of ideas for novel and smart glove designs. She is certain that she makes a nuisance of herself as she pokes about shops and counters and in all sorts of places where a lot of people think she has no business at all, seeking these ideas. For example, one of the most fetching of the collection is a cocktail glove that fastens with loop and frog— ### frog being an adaptation in ###led strips of kid. This idea was ###ken from the fashion for frogs ### evening wraps. Another in this line is a smartly tailored glove that buttons down the back, with the utmost simplicity—”to go with everything else these days that seems to be buttoning down the back,” says Miss Ireland. They are featured in six different styles. Three for the cocktail hour and the other three tailored for street and sports wear.
