The Foreign Office’s shutdown of the British Broadcasting Corporation’s short wave Hebrew program came under fire here today from the president of the Anglo-Jewish Association. Harold S. Montefiore said that while France was broadcasting a daily quarter-hour Yiddish program on three wavelengths, the Foreign Office brought to an end the only Hebrew broadcasts outside Israel. Viscount Samuel was elected a member of the council of the association.
