The appointment of Sidney Nelson, social service executive and consultant on community organization, to head the activities of the Joint Distribution Committee in South and Central America, was announced today by Edward M.M. Warburg, chairman of the JDC.
Mr. Nelson, who returned to the United States only this week from a survey of JDC activities in Europe, North Africa and Israel, is leaving by air tomorrow to take up his position at JDC Latin American headquarters in Buenos Aires. He is a veteran of many years of service with community organizations, and has been teaching for the past eight years at Brooklyn and Hunter Colleges, and New York University.
