The Jewish population of Upper Silesia lived through a period of excitement during the municipal elections which were held here yesterday and which resulted in a victory for the German element.

In the city of Kattowitz, the Jewish ticket carried only 678 votes and no Jew was elected to the city council. The German citizens all cast their vote for the German ticket, while the Polish parties were divided. During the election campaign, the Germans accused the Jews of voting for the Poles while the Poles charged the Jews with disloyalty to Poland and voting the German ticket.
