Sir Isaac Wolfson, prominent Jewish philanthropist, was today awarded an honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree from Oxford University. When he was presented for the degree, Sir Isaac was described as a “man of outstanding energy, acumen and humanity.” The Wolfson Foundation has given 500,000 pounds ($1,400,000) to Oxford.
(Sir Isaac will visit the United States to discuss with American bankers and businessmen, expansion plans for the Industrial Development Bank of Israel, Sir Isaac is a member of the bank’s board of directors, which is composed of English, American and Israeli businessmen and bankers. He is due to arrive in New York this weekend.)
