Sir Isaac Isaacs, Governor General of Australia, attended a concert held here by Signorina Cesarina Valobra, Jewish prima donna of Milan, at the Maccabean Hall, the Jewish War Memorial of this city.
Sir Isaacs was accompanied by Lady Isaacs and the visit marked their first to Sydney since the recent political crisis. The concert was to secure funds for the community centre. There is no synagogue at Canberra, the Federal capital, but Sir Isaac and Lady Isaacs have made it a point to attend synagogal and other Jewish functions when visiting various centers in different parts of Australia where Jews reside.
The family of the Governor-General worships at the Great Synagogue here.
