Sir Leon Simon, author and educator, celebrated his eightieth birthday today. A deputation of the Zionist Federation called on him to convey the Federation’s good wishes. The delegation, headed by Levi Gertner presented an address in Hebrew expressing the Federation’s tribute to “our leader and teacher. “
Sir Leon Simon, who is currently chairman of the Hebrew University Press, is well known for his English translations of the works of Ahad-Ha’am and his translations into Hebrew of the Dialogues of Plato. He also served in numerous British government positions.
