Sir Robert Waley Cohen was today re-elected president of the Council of the United Synagogues. Edmond de Rothschild, who is serving with the British forces in North Africa, sent a message to the Council meeting expressing his desire to participate in its activities after the war.
Two memorial meetings were held here honor the Jewish writers and artists murdered by the Nazis in central Europe and the Baltic countries. Speakers paid tribute to the works and lives of Prof. Simon Dubnow, Hillel Zeitlin, Israel Stern, Dr. Ignatz Schipper and others.
