A nationwide committee composed of six non-sectarian French organizations was today formed to defend the rights of the Finaly children and to ensure the return from Spain of the two Jewish boys spirited out of the country several months ago by Catholic officials.
The member groups of the committee are: League for the Rights of Man; National Teachers Union; National Camp Teachers Association; French Education League; National Education Federation; and League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism. The children, left by their parents in an orphanage shortly before the parents were murdered by the Nazis, are the object of a custody fight between their aunt in Israel and a nun who had them baptized several years ago.
