Sixty-eight Jews were injured, sixteen of them seriously, during anti-Jewish riots which broke out in the Slovakian town of Topolcany during a street demonstration organized by Fascist elements, who, the authorities said, were former officers of the pro-Nazi and anti-Semitic Blinka Guard.
Jewish stores were attacked and Jewish homes were pillaged during the demonstration. The police arrived too late and displayed little energy in dispersing the mob. Many of the Jews attacked were repatriates from Nazi concentration camps.
