In an effort to discredit the growing resistance to the Nazis throughout France, which has been climaxed by organized guerrilla fighting in the mountain provinces near Switzerland, the German-controlled Paris radio today stated that “sixty percent of all the guerrillas in Upper Savoy are Jews.”
Underground reports reaching here from the Nazi fortified zone around Pas de Calais, France, reveals that Jews are being brought there from Belgium for forced labor building fortifications. They work from 4:30 in the morning until 6:00 P.M. and are housed in barracks where they sleep on straw, 140 persons in each barrack. They must walk seven miles daily to and from work and are forced to work some days until ten o’clock in the evening.
