Sixty persons attended a meeting held under the auspices of the International Moslem Federation which denounced the Iraq, Syrian and Palestine Mandates. The meeting condemned the Balfour Declaration and the Zionists as “controlling international capitalism.”
Mahommed Ali Khan, secretary of the British section, read a letter sent to Lord Balfour, blaming him for not withdrawing the Declaration which, they stated, was the original cause of the massacre by the Moslems. The Federation will decide whether the only alternative of the Moslems is to ally themselves with Communism. The responsibility rests with Lord Balfour, he said.
Lord Balfour acknowledged the letter but made no comment.
A voice from the hall called out: “The Palestine Jews are the scum of the European ghetto.” J. Howell, the chairman of the meeting, a Socialist, replied that the meeting was not anti-Semitic. The Jews enriched the world in the realm of literature and philosophy, he declared.
