{NOTE}Abie Coleman, the Litvack specialist of the flying butt to the button, is back in town again after a lengthy sojourn in the sticks…. Maxie Baer has an ‘angel’ in Johnny Norris, who holds the strings to the champ’s exchequer…. In the international ping-pong match between Poland and Germany, held recently in Danzig, the victorious Polish team was composed entirely of Jewish players…. These were Ehrlich and Lowenhers, Lemberg and Klein and Kitek…. The result was 7-2 in favor of the Polish team.{/NOTE}

NEW YORK COLISEUM CRACK PRO BASKETBALL CARDS

{NOTE}Basketball fans in the Bronx are getting quite a break these days with the all-star doubleheaders Nat Preston is providing. Last night the Metros, composed of former City College captains, played the House of David in a thrilling game. The Red Wolfe All-Stars, another crack quintet, played the Mount Vernon five in the opening game and provided plenty of thrills.{/NOTE}

The Metros, the nearest thing to the Original Celtics, are led by Lou Spindell, one of the outstanding professional basketball players in the country. Lou was voted the most valuable man in the pro circuit last season and was awarded a huge silver trophy. Moe Spahn, present junior varsity coach at City College, and captain of the 1932 quintet, also is playing beside Moe Goldman, 1933 leader, Frank De Phillips, Art Musicant, Dutch Kaufman and Lou Wishnewitz.

The Metros should prove to be the greatest drawing cards in the metropolitan area. Last night’s crowd jammed the Coliseum to the rafters and many were turned away. Most of the players have been active in the money game for the last two years. Spindell has seen service with the Trenton Moose, the Newark Mules and the Cleveland Rosenblooms. Goldman has played with the Philly SPAHS and the Hebrews.

They will be seen in action again next Sunday night.

SOCCER SCRIBBLINGS

{NOTE}Two of the foremost Jewish exponents of soccer in this country will speak over the air tonight in an effort to stimulate interest in a sport which has not been fully acclaimed as it might be. Phil Slone, outstanding halfback of the Brookhattan Soccer Club, will be the first speaker. Phil was a former member of the brilliant original Hakoah all-stars of Vienna. Herbert Simpson, owner of the Brookhattans, will follow Slone on the air over station WINS at 6:15 o’clock tonight.{/NOTE}
