“Purchasing at Jewish shops is attended with danger to life,” reads a Nazi slogan, which has appeared today, and which has been posted up throughout Berlin.
Although the boycott is complete, there are several cases where Jewish merchants have shown courageous defiance by putting up slogans of their own outside their shops. In one case a Jewish shop bears the inscription, “I Served Four Years at the Front; This is my Reward”. Another Jewish shop carries the slogan, “We are Jews But We Help to Pay for the Unemployed”.
