Slovak Jews boycotted a ceremony in Budapest celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the only legislator of Slovakia’s WWII-era pro-Nazi state who voted against the deportation of Jews to concentration camps. A Jewish community leader said historical evidence showed the late Janos Esterhazy supported all other anti-Jewish bills and opposed the deportation order only because he feared that other minority groups like the Hungarians, whom he represented, would be deported next.
