Prof. Johan Smertenko, vice-President of the American League for a Free Palestine, was deported from England today aboard the same obartered plane that brought him to London from Paris yesterday. He arrived at his hotel here early this afternoon.
Prof. Smertenko, who had been declared persons non grate by the British Government as a result of charges by him that the British administration in Palestine is “a reign of terror,” spent the night in quarters attached to a district police station, where he was confined by order of the immigration authorities. This morning he was driven to Groydon airport by six policeman and a detective, who accompanied him to his plane and stood by until the aircraft had taken off.
