Moses Smilansky, Hebrew writer and one of the earliest land settlers in Palestine, underwent a serious operation here today as a result of an auto accident.
Mr. Smilansky was so badly injured that physicians found it necessary to remove his right eye. His condition was declared to be satisfactory following the operation.
Moses Smilansky was one of the Ha’poel Ha’zair labor party in Palestine and is a prolific writer on Palestine agricultural problems. He was one of the first Hebrew writers to direct attention to the life of the Arabs and has produced a number of exquisite short stories of Arab life, writing under the nom de plume. Havaja Musa. (Mr. Moses), the name by which he is known to his Arab neighbors. He is also the author of several novels, outstanding among which is “Toldoth Ahavah Achath” (History of One Love.)
