Former Governor Alfred E. Smith will be the guest speaker tonight at the opening campaign dinner of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities, at the Hotel St. George, Brooklyn. His address will be broadcast from the grand ballroom of the Hotel over station WMCA, between 10 and 10:30 o’clock.
The dinner marks the second quarter-century of service rendered by the Brooklyn Federation to the borough. Governor Smith will appeal to residents of Manhattan to support the Brooklyn organization in its present campaign to raise $543,500 to meet the minimum budgetary requirements of its twenty-five affiliated institutions.
Other speakers are Walter N. Rothschild, campaign chairman, Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May, president of Federation; Municipal Court Justice Murray Hearn, chairman of the dinner; and Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, executive director of Federation.
