Relations between the Israel Bond Drive and the United Jewish Appeal are going “smoothly,” Henry Montor, executive officer of the bond campaign, told a press conference here today. At a reception tendered by the Hebrew press, Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, executive vice-chairman of the U.J.A., said that there was a good possibility of the U.J.A. equalling last year’s total despite the existence of the bond campaign.
Mr. Montor praised the “dedicated efforts” of Edward M.M. Warburg, U.J.A, general chairman, and Dr. Schwartz in raising funds. He pointed out that “dire predictions” that the bond drive would “ruin” the U.J.A. had proven incorrect.
At the reception for the U.J.A. delegation, Mr. Warburg reviewed the U.J.A.’s accomplishments and Morris Berinstein, of the U.J.A. Campaign Cabinet, said that Israel needed additional sources of dollars besides the U.J.A. Earlier, the delegation was received by President Weizmann at his residence in Rehovoth.
