Harry Snell, Labor member of the British Parliament, will address the sixteenth annual convention of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, to be held in Buffalo, October 26, 27 and 28, it was announced at the Hadassah headquarters yesterday. Mr. Snell, who was a member of the Shaw Commission that investigated the causes of last Summer’s riots in Palestine and who presented a minority report differing sharply from the conclusions drawn by the other members, will make his address on the first day of the convention.
Mr. Snell is coming to the United States at the invitation of the American Jewish Congress and in order to make it possible for him to be present Hadassah has postponed its convention from October 19.
Delegates from nearly every state in the country will attend the convention, which will consider a number of problems affecting health work in Palestine. Reports will be presented by the national chairmen of the work of Hadassah in America and Palestine. One of the most important of these will be the report of Mrs. Edward Jacobs, chairman of the Palestine Committee, who will return shortly from Europe and Palestine.
Considerable interest will center around a memorandum prepared by Miss Henrietta Szold, founder and honorary president of Hadassah, on the enlargement of women’s work for Palestine, in which she suggests that the women of the world undertake the non-economic development of Palestine as their special task.
