Federal and local police were continuing their investigation today into the firing of four shots into the offices of the Egyptian Consulate in New York just past noon yesterday. The office was unoccupied at the time and no one was injured. Additional guards have been posted at the consulate by the police.

The consulate has been under police guard since last Wednesday when an anonymous caller threatened to bomb it in reprisal for the execution of two Jews in Cairo last Monday. Detectives had searched the consulate Wednesday but had found no explosives, and had posted a 24-hour guard in front of the building.

After the shootings yesterday, fourteen 22 caliber shells were found on two nearby roofs. However, only four slugs were dug out of the consulate walls. The office into which the shots were pumped is normally occupied by two members of the Egyptian delegation to the United Nations, but they were on another floor of the building at the time.
