The South African Women’s Zionist Conference opened here last night with an address by Mrs. Rose Halprin, member of the American Section of the Jewish Agency executive, who greeted the conclave on behalf of American Zionists.
Other speakers at the opening session included Israel’s charge d’affaires, Azriel Harel, and Mrs. Aleck Jaffe, wife of the Mayor of Johannesburg. Mary Adler, outgoing president of the organization, reviewed the work and achievements of the South African Women’s Zionist group since the last conference two years ago. The record gathering of delegates from all parts of South Africa and Rhodesia will conclude the conference tomorrow.
