The third South American conference of Poale Zion-Hitachdut parties opened today in the presence of 100 delegates from seven countries and many guests. Dr. Tobias Kamenszain, secretary of the Argentine Labor Zionist party, told the assembly, representing Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina that the movement was the strongest of all Zionist parties in South America.
Dr. Arieh Kubovy, Israel Ambassador stressed the democratic factor which the Labor Zionist parties had brought into Jewish life in South America. Israel Harkavi, General Secretary of the World Federation of Labor Zionist parties, stressing the key role of Labor Zionism in South America, urged identification with Israel in all fields as the only means of preventing assimilation. He read a message of greetings from Israel Prime Minister David Ben Gurion.
