An increase in the number of complaints of discriminatory practices against Jews in housing, by means of restrictive covenants, as well as social discrimination by resorts, clubs and similar institutions were reported by Jewish leaders from a nine-state region, meeting in Kansas City over the week-end to discuss programs to foster better group relations.
It was reported at the second annual parley of the Midwest Region of the National Community Relations Advisory Council, attended by 100 community leaders from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin and the Dakotas, that despite the present low ebb of organized anti-Semitic activity, the increase of instances of discrimination constitutes a very real threat to the democratic ideal of human equality.
