The National Conference of Jewish Social Service, at its closing session last night, elected Harry Greenstein of Baltimore as president and adopted a program of expansion calling for development of regional activity.
The conference decided to establish a field secretariat for the first time and conduct regional institutes and other activities “to provide for Jewish social welfare workers that guidance which will be needed in coming years.”
The program was formulated by Mr. Greenstein and Harry L. Glucksman of New York, retiring president.
Mr. Greenstein warned that “Jewish social service and all privately financed programs of social service face a critical period “because of the expansion of government services but held that “there is an important place for private social service.”
Cities of Baltimore, former Maryland OWA Administrator and former State Director of Public Welfare. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and also studied at Johns Hopkins University.
Samuel Dinin, New York, was elected president of the National Council for Jewish Education.
