The National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare Workers neared its close tonight with election of officers by component groups and adoption of a resolution urging president Roosevelt, secretary of State Hull and congress to lift the embargo on arms to Spain. The resolution was passed by the Social Workers’ Committee to aid Spanish democracy.
Dr. Samuel Dinin, registrar of the teachers’ institute at the Jewish Theological Seminary, was elected president of the National Council for Jewish Education. Samuel Shair, executive director of the Scranton, Pa., Y.M.H.A., was elected president of the National Association of Jewish Center Workers.
