Opposition to racial discrimination in the trade union movement was expressed in a declaration of principles on labor adopted by the Wisconsin state convention of the Socialist Party here yesterday.
“Socialists should oppose all forms of racial discrimination in the trade union organizations,” the statement read.
Arthur Shutkin, Milwaukee Jewish lawyer-and Zionist leader, was proposed as the party’s nominee for state attorney general, but was nosed out by Glenn P. Turner, Madison attorney.
Morris Stern, another Jewish attorney, was suggested for the nomination, but declined.
A fight against the growing threat of Fascism in this country was the keynote of many speeches at the convention.
