Nahum Sokolow, Zionist leader, now visiting in Roumania, has been asked by the police prefect of Kishinev, in the name of Premier Maniu, to abandon his proposed visit to Jassy, because the student disturbances there still continue. The attorney-general of Jassy has made a similar request to the local Zionist federation.
While a large crowd of students awaited his train. Sokolow, acceding to the request, did not leave the train, but continued on to Bucharest.
While Minister of Education Kostacescu, who is constantly in touch with the situation at Jassy, has informed the striking students he will close down the University for a whole year unless they maintain order, the students have demanded the resignation of the rector and the introduction of a numerus clausus.
