City, State and Federal officials today joined with representatives of local Jews in paying final tribute to Sol Slomovitz, Wayne County Deputy Treasurer, who died at his desk yesterday of a heart attack, at 57.
A leader in Young Judea in his youth, he continued a lifelong devotion to Zionism. A Democrat, he served in the office of the Register of Deeds here for 30 years, before his elevation to the county post last December. He was the brother of Philip Slomovitz, editor of the Detroit Jewish News and a Jewish Telegraphic Agency vice-president.
