Solomon Reinach, the eminent archaeologist and philologist, died here yesterday at the age of seventy-four. Dr. Reinach was for many years the director of the National Museum of Antiquities in St. Germain, and a member of the Academy D’Inscriptions. He was an officer of Public Instruction and Officer in the Legion of Honor. He had a most distinguished career and made many important archaeological discoveries. He was the author of more than seventy volumes on art, religion, philosophy and kindred subjects. “Apollo,” one of his most prominent works, dealing with the development of art, has been published in more than ninety French editions. A number of his books have also been translated into other languages.
Dr. Reinach was a member of the Executive Committee of the Alliance Israelite Universelle, member of the Board of the Jewish Colonization Association and many other Jewish organizations and movements.
