Solomon’s Pools, one of the most ancient water supply systems, were filled today for the first time in many centuries. The Pools were repaired by the Palestine government and will be used again as in the time of ancient Judea, to temporarily supply water for the needs of the Jerusalem population.
A public festival was arranged by the municipality of Jerusalem. High Commissioner Lord Plumer, Col, Frederick H. Kish, political representative of the Zionist Organization; Col. Keith Roach and other representatives of the Palestine government, addressed the large gathering.
The Pools contain forty million gallons of water. Lord Plumer, in speaking to the inhabitants, of Jerusalem, urged that they should not rely on the Pools but should see to it that a safe, modern water supply system be installed.
