Some 150 East Jerusalem Arabs have opted for Israeli citizenship, Mayor Teddy Kollek revealed. The vast majority of East Jerusalem residents have retained their Jordanian citizenship and have not taken up Israel’s offer of citizenship. As non-Israeli residents of Jerusalem, Kollek said, they are able to vote and run in municipal elections but they cannot vote for the Knesset.
