Some 30 Israeli policemen were lightly wounded on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount when angry Palestinian demonstrators attacked them with stones. Thursday’s confrontation followed a controversial visit to the site by Likud Party leader Ariel Sharon and a group of Likud Knesset members. Police fired rubber bullets at the attackers, reportedly wounding at least two. Hours later, similar clashes between Israeli police and Palestinian protesters erupted in the West Bank town of Ramallah.
