Some 77 percent of Americans believe the pursuit of Middle East peace is an important goal of U.S. policy, according to a Gallup poll. In the survey of 1,000 people, 41 percent said they sympathize with Israel, 14 percent said their sympathies are with the Palestinian Authority, 5 percent said they sympathized with both and 22 percent had no opinion.
