Some Ellis Island officials and some Jewish groups are objecting to the term “concentration camp” being part of the title of an exhibit about the involuntary incarceration of Japanese Americans in the United States during World War II. Jewish American and Japanese American leaders are slated to meet Monday to discuss the title of the exhibit, which is scheduled to open next month at the Ellis Island Museum. In 1994 and 1995, the exhibit was displayed under the title “America’s Concentration Camps: Remembering the Japanese American Experience” at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles.
