Some Jews joined tens of thousands of protesters against President Bush in New York City on Sunday, just before the opening of the Republican Convention. With an official community celebration scheduled for later in the day touting Jewish ties to the GOP, anti-Bush Jews joined in a massive march through the streets of Manhattan that passed by Madison Square Garden, where the convention will be held. Other Jewish protesters said they hated to share a platform with the anti-Israel crowd, but thought it was important if it helps build opposition to Bush.
