Acting Immigration Commissioner Edwin Samuel, eldest son of Viscount Samuel, first British High Commissioner for Palestine, was slightly injured today in a motor accident near Ramleh. his wife was also injured, his chauffeur killed and his bodyguard wounded.
Mr. Samuel’s car, returning from Tel Aviv, where he had attended ceremonies marking the inauguration of passenger traffic at the Tel Aviv port, was in collision with an Arab truck. Mrs. Samuel was removed to Hadassah hospital in Tel Aviv, but Mr. Samuel’s injuries were not considered serious enough to require hospital treatment. The dead chauffeur was Reuben Stotler, and the injured bodyguard is Yona Ettinger.
