Sophie Tucker, star of the stage and entertainment world, believes in keeping her promises. A year ago the star, who is a native of this city, told the officers of the Hebrew Ladies Old People’s Home she would help them stage a benefit show for the home, which her mother helped establish, as soon as she could find an “open date.”
Preparatory to sailing for London to open her night club there, Miss Tucker wired the officers of the home that she would come to Hartford and fulfill her promise. Thus, she will head a cast of professional entertainers, many of them friends who are coming with her at a benefit performance in the Capitol Theatre Sunday afternoon, April 22.
